So you might notice the odd title I chose for this blog. It is the title from one of my favorite songs. “I don’t wanna go” by Chris Renzema. It has kind of been a theme song of mine lately, I’ve known this song for a while now but recently it has stood out to me. The chorus is “I don’t wanna go if your not going before me”. I think the reason it has stood out to me is because I am going to all these new places I’ve never been and meeting strangers with the goal of spreading God’s good news and love and it sounds like a great responsibility. But there’s something comforting about knowing that God’s already in the places I’m going working. And now I can see it too! I see God here in the people and ministry we are working with these next 5 weeks. I hear him in their testimonies, Spanish or English, I see him in their work and love for the kids they feed and play with. God came before me and is already been working here in Guatemala. I feel honored to be a small part of it through the tasks I am giving small or large, like cutting vegetables for soup, giving kids piggyback rides repeatedly, praying over people who don’t understand my language, teaching English or doing dishes.
The ministry we have been working with has some different platforms of reaching out. So far the main one we’ve worked with is a school in a part of guate called Santa Marta. Santa Marta is a place where most live under a tin roof and don’t always have the means to eat three meals a day. The ministry my team has been working for, Reindom (look them up on Instagram and Facebook! They are amazing!), brings food, shoes, and clothes to the children and mothers of Santa Marta. Reindom does home visits to the homes around the school and brings a party for the kids for any holidays. We had a giant Independence Day celebration with the kids last Wednesday that was so tiring but so fun. And in October we are taking all the kids to the zoo for “kids day” (TBD who’s more excited for that, me or the kids). The best and most impactful day for me was last Saturday. We went to the school in Santa Marta and Reindom taught a Bible lesson and sang some fun songs (of which I only understood maybe 30% of) and then we all washed the children’s feet. I got to wash little niños y niñas feet while praying over them. None of them knew what I was saying and I didn’t really know what anyone else was praying but the great thing about God I suppose, he hears it all. It was amazing to see how different cultures and different languages came together for the same purpose of loving these kids like Jesus did.
So that’s the chronicles of adventures in Guate so far. I’m excited to see what else Reindom has for us Racers to help out with! Signing off for now!
Thanks Chris Renzema for the solid song.
Thanks Reindom for using your gifts to show God’s heart to your people.
Thanks God for going before me to work in the world.
And thank you! For reading this as cheesy as it sounds
P.S. give “I don’t wanna go” by Chris Renzema a listen, he says it better than me.
I enjoyed your blog

Loved reading your heart and it’s been so sweet to see you love these kids and be Jesus.
Also, YES LORD!! He is already working everywhere, we just get to jump in and help people see what His Holy Spirit is already doing.
