With a couple weeks of ministry behind me and only a few more to go I am loving every minute of this program. I couldn’t have been any more excited when I found out the last official ministry I would be with on the race was a kids program. It seems I have come a full circle because I started the WR with working with kids and I am finishing with working with kids. And my passion for kids ministry has only grown this year. I absolutely love this ministry I am working with this month! Let me tell you a little bit about it:

Tawsaeng means the first light in the morning. The staff’s goal is that every kid that comes through the program is a light to the people around them. There couldn’t be a better name! Tawsaeng is a after school program for children of the community. Their hope is to give kids the opportunity to finish all their schooling and get educated so they have a better chance at their future. The two main things that are taught are English and bible but there are plenty of other life skills that are different every week taught at Tawsaeng. Of course it’s not all lessons, there is plenty of games we play every day!

This month my team and I are giving the honor of teaching most of the lessons and coming up with all the games. It’s awesome to work with TnT who have all had different experiences teaching English or playing/entertaining kids throughout the Race. We all bring fun different ideas to the table. So far we have been apart of teaching about Jesus healing the blind, and teaching English and Spanish! And of course the kids have been teaching us Thai too. On Friday nights it’s typically older kids and it has more of a youth group environment. The staff has been teaching a series about what it is to be a good leader so next week we will take over that teaching. My team is full of excellent servant leaders so I think the kids are in for a treat! We also tell small testimonies every Friday.

All the kids have varying levels of English so some I talk to and some I just communicate through playing games with them. Janga is a big hit with the little girls! Shoots and ladders, checkers, uno, spoons,…. Etc. Almost everyday I play “chess” with this shy little boy. We don’t use all of the pieces, I’m not 100% on the rules yet and I have yet to win against him but we have fun together so that’s all the matters.

One of my favorite activities they do is when we do dramas. We all break up in teams and randomly pick a bible story. After reading in a kids bible each team does a drama of their story and we vote on the best drama. It’s a fun way to teach the kids 3 or 4 different short stories about Jesus.

When we get closer to the end of our time here we will host a event for all the kids. We are still planning what we will do but I already know it will be great. I would love prayers for that last event! It will be hard to say goodbye to this ministry and the kids, me and TnT love them so much!
