Well it’s officially! I am fully funded! Praise God! He is so amazing at providing so many people in my life that are so generous. Thanks to all of my supporters I actually went over my goal which I am over the moon excited about. I also am excited to have gotten a team a few days ago.
These past couple of weeks I have been preparing for this Monday, September 12th, and the following days. Preparing for the world race had all the typical things one might do in their day to day routine; like early morning bucket showers, worshiping our glorious God for many hours, dancing in the rain, reading the studying the word, doing laundry in a bucket, hammocking, practicing evangelizing to strangers, going to the “market” (trying to buy food from all the leaders as they spoke different languages or tried to pickpocket your things), team building/bonding, trying to keep spiders out of your tent, eating dishes from different countries, and of course practicing the squad dance routine. It almost felt like the degree I got in Adventure Education and working at camp was just training for this. Compared to the backpacking trips I did for school this camping was a breeze. I have been waiting for this adventure for what seems like so long and now here it is. Tomorrow the squad goes to the airport late and we take advantage of the WiFi for a few hours and then board a plane some time that’s too late to be night but too early to be morning.
The squad will arrive at the Guatemalan base and on Wednesday my team will travel to the ministry we were assigned to in Sumpango and the very next day is Guatemalan Independence Day. The ministry my team is working with has never had a WR team come help out before, but we will be working together in after school programs, home visits, sports camps, VBS, etc. I am so curious to see what the Lord has in store for me Guatemala with these new partners.
